Again, throughout the book i was asking myself over and over again, why this feels so rushed. Why the author didn’t take the time to write more details or more scenes and chapters about certain things. I don’t really know how to say it, because the pace of the main plot was fine, but some things were too fast, while others were to slow. Some worldbuilding elements were thrown in without much explanations, which already bothered me in book one. I think this would have been even bigger and better with more length and details! Because the idea and the plot are so good! AND THE CHARACTERS! 💛 Themes of Sacrifice and Redemption Elara’s quest isn’t just a physical journey—it’s a spiritual and emotional one as well. Along the way, she discovers that the curse thrives on fear, negativity, and despair. Her acts of selflessness, compassion, and courage begin to unravel the curse’s hold. This sequel is as fast-paced as Curse of Shadows and Thorns. With the way the first book ended, I wasn’t sure how long it would take for our hero to come to his senses and realize he can’t live without Elise. However, with this new direction, L.J. Andrews graces us with Legion’s POV, so we get every insight into his self-inflicted torture. 😈 I suppose it’s not only self-inflicted, as Tor with his broken heart is also wary of what Legion and Elise’s future might hold. While breaking the Curse of Shadows and Thorns is no easy feat, there are potential paths to liberation. It is crucial to approach these remedies with an open mind, understanding that folklore and personal beliefs may influence the effectiveness of any method. Here are a few suggested approaches: The worldbuilding also seems strange. I still don’t think I fully understand how the Fae and their magic tie into the story or how their magic works. A lot of their history is told, not shown through actual “history lessons” disguised as journal entries. And all I can see when I read the word Ettan is two headed giants, not people Breaking the Curse: As Elara delves into the heart of the curse, she confronts Lilith herself. Everything happened so fast. In true Game of Thrones fashion, the potential for character building and plot and world building was there. But BAM. Rush through it all and make it a letdown. Isolation and Alienation: Under the curse of shadows and thorns’s influence, the individual may feel increasingly isolated from others. The soft attempt of a Love Triangle was almost there and as much as I don’t really like Love Triangles it would have added a little more angst to an already drawn out plot that might have given it that little extra thing it needed to not feel boring.
