Description

I did really like the story as a whole, and Beth as a 13 year old that is woken up by the Ship, told that all the adults are asleep, the ship is badly in need of repair and also, who's your second in command? It's quite a fast paced book, as long as it took me to read it, and the characters are always doing something, never sitting around and waiting. I said I read this in one day and that was because I could not stop reading until I finished. The story is fast-paced and never gets boring. The ending is also perfect for tying the book together in a satisfying way while also leaving openings for a sequel (PLEASE).

TRAGIC: YOU MAKE A GREAT TEAM (+1) - It takes these two the ENTIRE BOOK to figure this out, meanwhile I knew since the begi It is easy to enjoy the view of the Orion Nebula alone, but a host of astronomical treasures awaits those willing to look a little closer. Look for the contrast in colour between most of the stars and the two which mark the join between the vertical and horizontal components of the ‘7’. This pair is double star Struve 844 and looks orange compared to the white and blue-white colour of the others. The brightest star in the top of the ‘3’ is double star Struve 848, with mag. 6.9 and 7.8 components separated by 2.6 arcseconds. Photographs of the Orion constellation SIKE. YOU THOUGHT (+0.5) - As I said similarly in another review, sometimes you think you should have been named captain, but life is never that simple. 0.5 bonus points in honor of the 0.5 point difference between Beth and Vihaan's scores that decided who became captain :)

Think about how all five senses experience the world around you, both inside and outside of the spaceship.

Most of the story centers around her and 5 other characters, which means that the others have to be strong supporting characters too. Thankfully, they are. Each is distinctive in their talents and personalities, and as a whole the group have some great scenes. If there was a word for chemistry but for negative interactions that's how I would describe it. Like, it's immensely entertaining to watch the group argue, which sounds bad but it's an integral part of the plot and I promise it's fun 😭 Way out in the furthest part of the known world, a tiny stronghold exists all on its own, cut off from the rest of human-kin by monsters that lurk beneath the Snow Sea.But I’m also especially happy that Orion Lost in particular has been shortlisted, for other, non pandemic-related reasons, too. This is a really great read. I was happily surprised and I'm delighted to be; this is something fresh, unique and rather well handled indeed. And it surprised me - a lot - and I love that.
